Humanities
Humanities – Their Stories in our World
Students in KS3 have joined us from many different schools and had a range of different learning opportunities and experiences. We like to offer learning that is both informative and interesting that will develop their knowledge of the world they live in and where it has come from. Humanities plays such an important part in our students lives, from demonstrating the British Values to learning how to develop more in-depth skills and knowledge.
We like to offer a range of learning in lessons that meet the needs of the individuals, of the cohort. We intend on getting out of the classroom to experience history and geography in the real world at least once a term and encourage an open-minded approach to learning.
We are currently alternating termly between History and Geography, however constantly highlighting how one ties into the other. Learning is planned to be informative yet engaging with the opportunity for pupils to investigate along the way. We would like to encourage our students to learn from the past, exploring their learning with enthusiasm and engagement, whilst looking at their own impact and that of others on the world we currently live in, and what impact they can and will have.
Humanities currently is working on a three-year plan covering key topic, that has been devised to engage and excite our learners. Each term builds on prior learning and knowledge, whilst allowing pupils to catch up quickly should they join later. We have handpicked the learning opportunities for the pupils to encourage a good foundational knowledge whilst choosing to develop this knowledge further in their future.
