A Rights Respecting School
The Rowans AP Academy is a school where children’s rights are at the heart of our ethos, values and culture, to improve well-being and to develop every child’s skills and abilities to their full potential. In 2016 we received recognition as a Unicef ‘Rights Respecting School’, achieving the bronze Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) for demonstrating a commitment to upholding and educating our students on their rights.
For the past year, we have been working hard towards achieving our silver accreditation by embedding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into our school policies and curriculum.
In April 2021 The Rowans achieved Silver Rights Respecting Schools Status.
Unicef is the world’s leading organisation for children and their rights. Working across 190 countries to safeguard, promote and uphold the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) that protect children from harm as well as entitles them to education and the growth experiences of childhood.
Pupils at The Rowans learn about their rights by putting them into practice every day through our core values of kindness, commitment and resilience. As a Rights Respecting School we model rights and respect in all our relationships and our day-to-day routines as we continue our rights respecting journey with Unicef
