When the country locked down, The Rowans Team stepped up!

To ensure our pupils continued to receive quality education during a global pandemic, we launched our initiative “Writing at the Rowans Goes Live”. Pupils had access to a carefully planned online curriculum, which focussed on developing writing and IT skills, but also encouraged pupils to understand and respond to global environmental issues.

‘Live lessons’ were timetabled, shared via social media and learning phone calls were made, personally, to pupils and their families to encourage pupils to log on and engage in learning.

This was a whole school effort as not only were the lessons provided online, a huge amount of organising went in to ensuring all pupils had access to laptops and, on top of that, weekly Enrichment Packs were delivered to pupils and their families which provided them with essentials, treats and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

It goes without saying that receiving this award is a testament to the teamwork, resilience kindness and commitment to learning that everyone at the Rowans demonstrates every day.
