PE and Sports Premium

Sports Premium Report 2023/24

The PE and sport premium is allocated to schools to help them provide additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the physical education, physical activity and sport they provide. The guidance states that as well as this, you should use the PE and sports premium to build capacity and capability within the school, to ensure that improvements made now will benefit children joining the school in future years.

For the academic year 2023-2024, The Rowans was awarded £1000

The funding is used to:

  • Develop or add to the PE and sport activities that the school already offers.
  • Make improvements that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years.

The premium must be spent to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. The vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium grant is for “all pupils to leave primary school physically literate with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity in sport.”

The funding has been provided to ensure impact against the following OBJECTIVE:  To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools the focus of spending must lead to long lasting impact against the vision (above) that will live on well beyond the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding.   School is expected to achieve self- sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport against the following 5 key indicators:

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick starting healthy lifestyles.
  2. The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement. 3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
  3. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
  4. Increased participation in competitive sport.

The grant received of £1000 has been supplemented by school budget to ensure that the teaching of PE is possible.
