Rowans win Safeguarding Award during Covid-19
The Rowans AP Academy have had and continue to have a proactive, robust response to the current situation. From the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, our response has been centred around the visible and unseen needs of our pupils. We are best placed to make accurate judgements about the safety, welfare and education of our pupils due to the in-depth knowledge and outstanding relationships we have with each and every one of our pupils and their families.
We have updated and adapted our response and actions in light of all current guidance and the changing welfare, safeguarding and learning needs of our pupils and their families. We are constantly reviewing our processes to ensure they continue to be effective and robust. All staff are sharing the responsibility for safeguarding during Covid-19; making welfare calls, carrying out doorstep checks and delivering enrichment and kindness packs. Parents and carers continue to receive support via letters, emails, phone calls and texts. The Rowans AP have built its social media presence to help maintain engagement with pupils and their families. This has included; celebrating pupils’ birthdays, showing examples of outstanding learning, both academic and practical, a weekly assembly, staff films and challenges, a virtual festival of sport and quizzes and challenges.
The Rowans AP remained open during Covid-19 for pupils of key workers and for vulnerable pupils, we continue to welcome back more pupils, working with our partners and external agencies to ensure best support for all pupils.
